Welcome to the official website of Lugarawa Health Training Institute (LUHETI). LUHETI is Faith Based Institution owned by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Njombe. The Institute is located in Njombe region, Ludewa district, in Lugarawa ward on the premises of St John’s Hospital Lugarawa. The Institute was established in 1998, for the purpose of training form four students especially girls who completed to become nurses so that they could work in health facilities located in the Southern zone and other parts of Tanzania.

After establishment the institute was started offering Nursing and Midwifery course. In 31st December, 2003 the institute was registered by NACTE and given full registration as Technical Education and Training institution under the provisions of the National Council for Technical Education Act, No. 9 of 1997 with registration no REG/HAS/036. LUHETI was Full Accredited on 20th November, 2015. The Institute also on 7th February 2020 was Preliminarily Registered by Vocation Education and Training Authority and awarded certificate with number VET/NJB/PR/2020/C/100

Now the institute is training five programmes namely; Nursing and Midwifery (NTA LEVEL 4-6), Medical Laboratory Sciences (NTA LEVEL 4-6), Pharmaceutical Sciences (NTA LEVEL 4-6)Ordinary Diploma in Clinical Medicine (NTA LEVEL 4-6) and Laboratory Science and Technology (NVA LEVEL I, II and III). Also the Institute is running Upgrading programme in Nursing and Midwifery, Upgrading programme in Medical Laboratory Sciences and Upgrading programme in Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The Institution has a vision and mission statements which guides and ensures academic excellence, high level of moral and caring health professionals in line with the purpose of the institution.
